We need to adapt. Take a look at this article The Great Transition: http://www.scribd.com/doc/21656220/The-Great-Transition-Navigating-Social-Economic-Ecological-Change-in-Turbulent-Times
hi fling, I havent read that document titled The Great Transition, but it looks interesting.
There is an earlier document called Great Transition: The Promise and Lure of the Times Ahead (2002) but I do think it has a naive view of transitioning many organisations, especially corporations and private property. The New Sustainability Paradigm is a good placeholder, but what exactly is it ? The Transition Towns Totnes people reference it in their energy descent action planning, the latest product of which is now online and print in January. http://totnes.transitionnetwork.org/EDAPwebversion
One really interesting project to come out of the first Great Transition project was the Corporation2020 conference in Boston, some really frank admissions by the head of the Sloan Business School at MIT, corporate heads etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0yBM4D3MrMo
There is also an excellent critique of the Transition Towns Totnes movement called The Rocky Road to Transition A new forward and the 2008 edition
